There’s glossy mock caiman croc in a deep, rich burgundy, a moodier croc-effect panel in charcoal, and soft, tactile pony hair (hair-on cowhide) in a smoky charcoal grey. Every join is traced with bold S-shaped cross stitching in burgundy-red, which gives the whole design a lovely fluid rhythm. It’s a belt you’ll want to run your hand along, and people will want to as well. Whether you let them is entirely up to you.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe buckle is our bevel swirl, a free-flowing, asymmetric form in satin gunmetal that sweeps round in one confident curve. Its bevelled edge catches the light as it turns, and the open frame lets the strap show through, so buckle and leather feel like one continuous line. I chose the satin gunmetal deliberately: it sits tone on tone with the charcoal panels and keeps the whole look sleek, which means the burgundy has nothing to compete with and comes pushing through in all its depth. It’s sharp, contemporary and just a little bit dramatic, in the best possible way.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBurgundy and charcoal is one of my favourite combinations, and a far more interesting choice than reaching for black or brown out of habit. The charcoal keeps it grounded and wearable; the burgundy adds richness and warmth that brings an outfit to life. I’d wear it with black jeans, a fine charcoal knit and suede Chelsea boots, or with a white shirt and grey trousers for a night out. Navy, cream and forest green all play beautifully with that burgundy too. It works well for both men and women. On her, it’s fantastic over a black jumpsuit or slung through dark skinny jeans with a cream roll-neck and a leather jacket. Keep everything else simple and let the belt take the compliments.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNot only is the upper leather full grain quality, the lining is too.
