It’s understated, beautifully finished and quietly warm, and it has a habit of making whatever you’re wearing look more considered than it probably was.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe strap is nubuck in a deep, dark chocolate, buffed to a fine, tight nap that feels soft and silky under your fingertips. It has a lovely warmth to it, both in the hand and to the eye, with gentle shifts of tone as the light moves across the surface. That texture is what makes nubuck so rewarding to wear. It adds a richness and depth to an outfit that smooth leather can’t quite manage, whether you’re pairing it with summer linen or a chunky winter knit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe buckle is an ultra-slim frame in aged gold, long, clean and elegantly proportioned, with softly rounded corners and nothing to distract from its lines. The aged finish gives the gold a mellow, burnished warmth rather than a bright shine, and against the chocolate nubuck it glows beautifully. It’s refined, a little bit luxurious and completely timeless.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 40mm, this is one for smart casual dressing rather than suits. It works well for both men and women. I’d wear it with dark denim, a cream roll-neck and suede loafers, or with olive chinos and a pale blue Oxford shirt. It’s wonderful with camel, navy, rust and ivory, all of which pick up the warmth of the gold. On her, it looks fantastic worn with high-waisted cream trousers and a fine knit, or slung through relaxed jeans with a crisp white shirt and gold jewellery to echo the buckle. Fair warning: once you’ve felt that nubuck, the rest of your belts may start to feel a bit ordinary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNot only is the upper leather full grain quality, the lining is too, so it feels every bit as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.
