It’s a rich, warm brown, and the quills sit noticeably deeper in colour, almost chocolate, scattered across the strap like a natural constellation that no other hide will ever repeat. Each quill has its own slightly raised shape and a soft glow that catches the light, while the leather around it stays more matt and supple. Run your hand along it and you’ll feel the texture as much as see it. I find myself looking at it closely every time I pick one up, and it never gets old.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor the buckle, I wanted something that would step back and let the ostrich lead. It’s a slim, softly rounded rectangular frame in silver, with clean edges and nothing extra. It sharpens the whole belt without ever pulling focus.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is the most versatile belt I can think of, and it works well for both men and women. With the narrow width, it sits perfectly with a navy or grey suit and brown brogues. I’d wear it at weekends with stone chinos and a pale blue shirt, or with mid-wash denim, a camel crewneck and suede loafers. On her, it’s lovely with cream wide-leg trousers and a fine knit, or worn with a crisp shirt dress in autumn. Anything in navy, cream, camel or olive will make that brown sing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt’s lined in soft nubuck, so the inside feels every bit as good as the outside looks.
