To bring out those golden flashes, I paired it with our contemporary equestrian buckle: a flat, open C shape inspired by the curve of a stirrup, finished here in pale, shiny gold. Its bright, polished surface lifts the whole belt and plays beautifully off the lighter gold flecks in the leather, while the open centre lets the plum scales show through, framing them like a jewel in a setting. Rich, warm and wonderfully luxe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlum is a beautiful colour to wear and a far more interesting choice than black or brown. Wear it at the waist of a black or charcoal dress, over a cream silk blouse with wide-leg trousers, or slung through dark denim with a grey cashmere knit.
