It nods to the West with a wink rather than a Stetson.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe leather is a mock ostrich with a quill effect, finished by hand at the tannery so that tones of caramel, toffee and walnut drift across the strap in a soft, cloudy wash, while the raised quills settle into a deeper brown. It’s warm, rich and full of character, and its tonal variety means it sits comfortably alongside all kinds of browns. Against it sits a buckle with real presence: an openwork design in antique brass, with bold scrolls and flourishes curling out from the centre like a stylised flower, and an oval cabochon of Czech glass at its heart, made to capture the look of turquoise right down to its fine, dark veining. The darkened recesses give the brass depth, while the open cut-outs let the leather show through, so buckle and strap feel woven together. That flash of turquoise against warm brown is one of the great colour pairings, and here it feels relaxed, sunny and unmistakably cool.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a belt for days when you want your outfit to have a bit of soul. It works well for both men and women. I’d wear it with faded denim and a white shirt with the sleeves rolled, or with cream chinos and a chambray shirt in summer. Once the weather turns, it’s brilliant with a suede jacket, an ecru knit and boots. On her, it’s lovely at the waist of a flowing white dress or a denim shirt dress, or slung through high-waisted jeans with a soft knit and plenty of gold jewellery. Cowboy boots are optional.
