Bruciato means burnt in Italian, and it is exactly the right word for this genuine python skin. The warm amber, toasted brown and natural cream tones move across the surface with a richness and depth that feels almost edible — flashes of metallic gold threading through the scales like sunlight caught in honey. It is a belt that feels warm just to look at, and extraordinary to wear.Python skin is unlike anything else. The fine overlapping scales create a surface that shifts and shimmers as the light moves across it, no two sections ever repeating. At 40mm the full beauty of the skin is on display — the natural markings flowing across the width of the strap with a complexity and depth that no manufactured leather could come close to replicating. Every belt is singular. The particular arrangement of tones and markings on this skin exists nowhere else in the world, and never will again. The reef knot buckle in aged gold is one of my favourite pairings for this skin. Open and interlaced, the combination of smooth and rope-twist textures gives the buckle its own quiet complexity — and against the Bruciato python, the gold simply glows. The warmth of the metal and the warmth of the skin find each other effortlessly, the buckle feeling less like an addition and more like a natural conclusion to the belt. This is a unisex belt that works across a remarkably wide range of occasions. With camel, tan or tobacco tones it feels like a considered part of a palette. Against navy or dark denim the warmth of the python does something quietly spectacular. For evenings, the metallic gold in the skin and the burnished glow of the buckle catch the light beautifully, elevating the whole outfit without a moment's effort. We make only a small number of these each season. When they are gone, that particular skin — with its particular markings, its particular warmth — is gone with them. These belts are made in our small Italian atelier, where the art of working with exotic skins has been refined over generations. It is a discipline entirely its own — demanding a level of skill and patience that only comes with years of dedicated practice.A note on our exotic skins: all python used by Elliot Rhodes is sustainably sourced, imported and certified under CITES — the Washington Convention for the Protection of Species.
