Right, look at this. Just look at it. I put this buckle against this crocodile and genuinely had to take a moment. The paua shell birdwing buckle — that particular shade of iridescent blue, shifting between cerulean and cornflower — land against the two-tone denim crocodile as if they were cut from the same cloth. Which of course they weren't. That's just what happens when you get lucky, or when you've been doing this long enough to know when something is simply right. The buckle itself is a beautiful thing — a soaring bird in aged silver, its wings inlaid with fragments of paua shell that carry that same shifting, oceanic blue that makes you look twice and then a third time. The aged silver frame grounds it, gives it weight and a quiet vintage quality, and the bird sits right at the centre of all those extraordinary blues in the crocodile like it was always meant to be there. The darker navy passages in the leather, the brighter cerulean tiles, and then that flash of iridescent shell — it is a conversation entirely in blue, and it is one of the most satisfying combinations I think I've put together. And the crocodile itself — let's not rush past it. Two-tone matt genuine crocodile in this deep denim finish is a rare and genuinely special thing. The tiles shift in scale across the strap, the colour moving from near-indigo to vivid bright blue depending on the light, the matt finish giving it a depth and restraint that polished crocodile simply can't match. This is a belt for someone who knows. Really knows. Wear it with denim — obviously — but don't stop there. With navy tailoring it is quietly spectacular. With a simple white shirt and jeans it becomes the whole outfit. For women, belted over a dress or with wide-leg trousers, the blues do something genuinely joyful. This is not just a belt. It is one of those rare things that makes you feel genuinely pleased with yourself every single time you put it on. And frankly, that's worth a great deal. These belts are made in our small Spanish atelier, where the art of working with exotic skins has been refined over generations. It is a discipline entirely its own — demanding a level of skill and patience that only comes with years of dedicated practice. A note on our exotic skins: all crocodile used by Elliot Rhodes is sourced from CITES approved farms and imported under licence. Please note that crocodile skin belts cannot be shipped outside of the UK due to permit requirements. If you are based outside the UK and are interested in this product, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
